Questions
The things people ask before they book
-
Is this the same certificate I'd get from the FNMT?
It's the same kind of thing and it does the same job: a qualified electronic certificate that identifies you to Spanish public administrations. Ours is issued by Firmaprofesional, S.A. rather than the FNMT. Both are qualified providers under eIDAS, and administrations accept either.
-
How long does it really take?
Usually within 24 hours of paying, during our staffed hours — Mon–Fri, 09:00–20:00 CEST. The steps that take time are the issuer's: the contract e-signature, the video identification and the issuing itself. If your combination of documents turns out to be one the issuer cannot process, you get a full refund.
-
What if I only have the green NIE certificate, not a TIE card?
The green A4 certificate has no photograph, so the issuer cannot identify you with it alone. It is accepted as proof of your NIE alongside an accepted passport or national identity card. If that is your situation, choose your passport or ID card as the document and upload the certificate when we ask for proof of NIE.
-
Do I need to speak Spanish?
Not to deal with us. The briefing before your appointment, the installation afterwards, our support and every email are in the language you choose on this page. The identity check itself is run by the issuer's identification team — we tell you exactly what you'll be asked, and stay with you while it happens, so you're never facing it alone.
-
Which nationalities and documents are accepted?
Anyone with a Spanish DNI or TIE. With a national identity card: Germany, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Croatia, Slovenia, Spain, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Sweden and Switzerland. With a passport: the same countries plus the United Kingdom, Denmark, Iceland and Andorra, but not Croatia. The first two questions on the form check this for you before you create an account.
-
Can I do this from outside Spain?
Usually yes — everything happens online and the identification is a video call from your phone. What matters is an accepted document in date, proof of your NIE, and a mobile number that can receive an SMS. Ask us first if any of those is a problem.
-
How long is the certificate valid?
2 years from issue. We'll email you before it expires, and renewing is a short call rather than starting from scratch.
-
Will it work on my Mac, iPhone or Android?
Yes, on all of them — with one rule: do not download the certificate for the first time on an Android phone. The first download must be on a computer or an iPhone; you copy it to Android afterwards. We walk you through installing it on each device.
-
What happens to my video recording?
It's recorded because the regulation requires the issuer to keep evidence of how you were identified. Firmaprofesional, S.A. holds it for 20 years as the certificate's issuer of record. It isn't used for marketing, isn't sold, and isn't shared beyond what the regulation requires.
-
What if my identity check is rejected, or my documents can't be processed?
If the issuer rejects the identification you can simply do it again — the usual causes are doing it from a computer instead of a phone, showing a different document, pasting the SMS code instead of typing it, or an expired card. If your combination of nationality and documents turns out to be one the issuer cannot process at all, you get a full refund, no argument.
-
Can I get one for my company?
A certificado de representante — the one that identifies you as acting for a company — is a different product with a heavier document check. We don't sell it on this page yet. Tell us what you need and we'll point you to the right route.
-
Is this a deductible business expense?
If you're autónomo or a company and you need the certificate for your business, it's normally a deductible expense. You'll get a proper invoice with our CIF on it. Your gestor or accountant is the one to confirm your specific case.
-
How do I renew it when it expires?
We email you before the expiry date with a link to book a renewal call. It's the same short call, and in most cases it's quicker than the first one.
-
Who exactly are you, and who issues the certificate?
Hola Money SL, a private Spanish company — CIF B26671347, registered at Calle Granada 7, 04820 Vélez-Rubio, Almería, España. We are a registration entity working under Gong Time, S.L., the registration authority appointed by Firmaprofesional, S.A.. We take your details, arrange your identification and support you. Firmaprofesional, S.A. — a qualified trust service provider on the Spanish Trusted List — issues the certificate. We are not a government body and not affiliated with one.
